Explorer Post #44 Welcome to the Enfield Cadets! How do I become an Enfield Police Officer? The Enfield Explorer Post #44 Cadets is an Exploring Program sponsored by the Enfield Police Department. Post #44 is Chartered through the Daniel Webster Council of New Hampshire, the administrative section of Boy Scouts of America. As intended by the Boy Scouts of America, Explorer Posts strive to give young men and women guidance and training within a given field. Explorer Posts exist in all fields, including Law Enforcement, Fire Fighting, Law, Emergency Services, Lifeguards, Accounting, Aviation, Communications, Banking, and many other professional fields. Post #44 in Enfield is a Law Enforcement Explorer Post sponsored by the Enfield Police Department. At Post #44, we teach our Cadets real world ideals, self-esteem, leadership, responsibility, and of course, law enforcement skills. And we have fun doing it! Who We AreThe Enfield Explorer Post #44 has been Chartered and active for over 20 years. The Advisor is a sworn member of the Enfield Police Department. Sergeant James H. Pushee, has left the department, and is now Chief of the Deering Police Deparmtent. The Post is currently being advised by Officer Bergeron. On occasion officers of the Canaan Police Department assist in different post activities. In the past our Post has held membership of over 20 Cadets. The Post elects members from its own ranks to act as Captain, Sergeant, Secretary, or other positions as necessary. Currently we have Cadets from the towns of Enfield, Canaan, Lebanon, and as far Ryegate, Vermont. What We DoEnfield Post #44 uses training, fun days, trips, and classes to teach young men and women about life. We give them a feeling of accomplishment, self-esteem, and integrity, and we work them hard. As a Law Enforcement Post, much of our training is focused on Police style training and subject matter, but we try to incorporate this learning into everyday life, and give the Cadets things they can utilize in their own world. We teach Cadets about firearms and self-defense, about local and state laws, about officer safety and tactics. Much of our training is hands-on and very exciting. And every year or so we try to set up an extended field trip. In the past the Post has traveled to Washington D.C., New York City, and the New York State Police Academy in Albany, N.Y. Post #44 serves Enfield and surrounding towns by helping out with traffic and security at Town functions, such as Halloween, Santa Claus, Parades, Craft Fairs, Block Party, Olde Home Days, and such. In the past the Enfield Cadets have traveled to Nashua to assist with the 1996 Summer Olympic Torch Run as it passed through New Hampshire. We also have helped at the Cornish Fair and assisted the New London Explorer Post with the Mt. Sunapee Triathlon. Since 1997, we have been traveled each October to the Deerfield Fair to assist with Traffic Control and Security functions. Requirements
What We DoAs mentioned, the Enfield Cadet Post #44 assists with traffic control and security at many public functions. Are you in charge of craft fair, a Bazaar, a block party, a wedding, or a parade? The Enfield Police Cadets would be glad to help in any way possible. For traffic control the cadets are issued high visibility vests and flashlight, and are monitored by at least one adviser. For security functions, please keep in mind these are high school student with no formal training or arrest powers. Can You Help Us?The Enfield Cadet Post #44 is a non-profit organization that operates wholly on our own personal fundraising, donations, and a small stipend from the Enfield Police Department. Our costs include uniforms, training, equipment, field trip expenses, and the Cadet Academy which all Cadets have the opportunity to attend each summer. Annually we hold Car Washes, School Dances, and we are planning other types of fundraising. We also accept donations, as well as moneys in return for services rendered by our Cadets.
