How do I become an Enfield Police Officer?Vacancies are announced in the classified section of the local newspapers and on this web site. Qualifications are 18 years of age, US citizen and successful completion of examinations and investigations. Testing consists of physical agility, clinical psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, medical, and a detailed personal background investigation. Candidates must successfully complete the mandated 12-week police recruit academy at the New Hampshire Police Academy within one year of hire. Currently, the department has part-time officer vacancies. Qualifications for part-time officers are the same as full-time positions with the exception of the training requirement. Part-time officers must complete a 100-hour state mandated training program. The Town of Enfield offers a great work environment with generous wages and benefits. Click here to access our employment application. How do I become a Police Cadet?The cadet program is under the auspices of the Boy Scouts of America. The program is open to both males and females age 15 to 21 years. 14 year olds can join the post as soon as the graduate the 8th grade. Other requirements include: passing grades, good conduct, and following the post policies and procedures. The cadet program is a learning and community service experience. Cadets are uniformed and assist the department in such police activities as parking, traffic control, radio dispatch, and search and rescue missions. How do I become a High School Intern?Each year the department selects a student or students to assist the department in our administrative section. These part-time positions are funded and assist the department in data entry and other routine administrative functions. Selection is done through an interview possess developed from a list of candidates from the Mascoma Regional High School. Students interested should contact their school guidance counselor. How do I become a College Intern?Over the years many of our college interns have gained access to career law enforcement positions at the local, state and federal levels. Qualifications and testing are the same as that for police officers. Successful candidates receive state certification and become sworn police officers with arrest powers. Qualified Interns perform police patrol functions on weekends and during the summer months. These are funded positions. Can dogs run loose in Town?No. The Town, by a Town Meeting vote, has adopted the provisions of Chapter 466 of the laws of State of New Hampshire that governs the control of animals. The old adage "Finders, Keepers" does not play in New Hampshire. It is a crime to take permanent possession of lost or mislaid property. View Lost and Found Items page How can I obtain a copy of an accident or police report?Also, known as a permit to carry, this license allows a person to carry a loaded/concealed pistol or revolver. Qualifications are, a suitable person, a resident of Enfield (non-residents must obtain such permits from the Director of the State Police), no convictions of certain felony level crimes in this state or any other state or territory or possession of the United States Such licenses are not necessary to purchase or carry a non-concealed (or unloaded in a vehicle) pistol or revolver. Persons convicted of certain felony crimes may be barred from possession of firearms in this state. Federal laws prohibit persons convicted of certain domestic violence related offenses from purchasing or possessing firearms. All applications are investigated within 14 days of receipt. How can I obtain a Pistol/Revolver License?The department has a policy that provides easy and timely access to filed reports. We realize the timely need for reports for insurance claims and other legal matters and will expedite such requests. However, some reports/records cannot be released without proper legal orders. Reports/records that may tend to invade the privacy of others, are of an ongoing criminal investigation, or are restricted by laws may require a court order prior to release. 1. An officer will assist you in filling out a report of complaint against police personnel on the appropriate form. This form asks you to identify yourself and then to give specific details about your complaint. 2. Your complaint will then be investigated. You may be contacted and asked additional questions about your complaint. 3. You will be contacted by the Chief of Police, or his designee, when the investigation has been completed. |
